Norman Rockwell Collected Correspondence Collection: Curtis; Brown & Bigelow

1935-1983

The Norman Rockwell Donated Business Correspondence collection was given to the Norman Rockwell Museum in 2007. The collection includes incoming and outgoing correspondence between Norman Rockwell, and the editors of Curtis Publishing magazines like Saturday Evening Post and Ladies Home Journal, as well as correspondence with Brown & Bigelow art editors concerning Rockwell’s work with the Boy Scouts and Four Seasons calendars. This collection of correspondence demonstrates the creative processes that went into producing Rockwell’s work spanning his career from 1935-1975. They also give unique and varied perspectives on his work during his lifetime, including Norman Rockwell’s own thoughts. Furthermore, they provide unique insight into Norman Rockwell’s relationship with those who bought and published his work.
